Education
Shannon Jhunjhunwala received her Juris Doctorate in 2004 from the University of Pennsylvania Law School.  She received her B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania in 1998 with a double major in Economics and International Relations.

Background
After graduating from law school, Shannon worked as a corporate litigator in the New York office of Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP.  With Akin, Shannon worked on issues of complex commercial law such as corporate liability, bankruptcy, securities litigation, and white collar crime, for major companies including Samsung, Time Warner, and Sanofi Pasteur.

In working with complex legal issues that required the merged analysis of the laws of more than one country, Shannon realized that these global legal issues were not confined to major multinational corporations.  In 2007, Shannon opened her practice so that she could use her legal experience to help individuals and small and medium-size businesses to cost effectively bridge that legal gap.  Shannon applies her strong analytical and advocacy skills to corporate drafting and dispute resolution including litigation and/or international arbitration and mediation.  Read more about Shannon’s Practice Areas.

Shannon’s earlier experiences include work in management consulting with Accenture and asylum law advocacy with Human Rights First.

Shannon splits her time between New York and India.

Pro Bono
Shannon believes strongly in the power of law to create positive change in her community.  While at Akin Gump, she worked on numerous pro bono matters, including:  researching and drafting a motion to the Supreme Court arguing for the application of Geneva Conventions to detainees of Guantanamo Bay; assisting clients with wage law and related disputes; and representing clients seeking asylum.  Now, Shannon offers free legal services to several non-profit organizations helping them to register with the appropriate government bodies, negotiate contracts, and resolve disputes.

Teaching
Through her years of practice, Shannon realized that one of the most important skills a good lawyer possesses is the ability to clearly articulate her analysis of a legal issue.  Wanting to help law students develop this core competency at the time they build their legal foundation, Shannon joined the West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences as a professor of Legal Writing & Analysis.
